Director, David Lawrence has been involved with Applewood Retirement Village from its inception in 2003.
The brief was to design over 55’s community living, offering choice of apartment style living up to 7 storeys high with views in conjunction with ground level single storey accommodation. The facility was designed within 25 acres of urban landscape with retreat spaces, recreational facilities including bar restaurants, lounges and a library, delivered with a high standard of architectural design incorporating attention to detail, choice of materials and rigorous space planning.
The over/under unit design was an innovative solution for the independent living units.
The aesthetics of the community relied on the retention of significant trees which enhanced the perception of the landscape to achieve tranquility in a suburban context. Streams were introduced around the property to channel storm water throughout the garden areas.
